This painting was inspired by the local peach stand in Lexington, SC. The stand is located on U.S. 378 and U.S. 1. The stand pictured here is located on U.S. 378, and I always stop by on my way home and select a basket of peaches. The guys are always very helpful to their customers. The sweet peaches are here for just a short time, and so are the Boys of Summer.

As I play my classical guitar, I always visualize what the composer is trying to express.  What I listen for is a melody phrase that becomes my favorite part of the piece. Sometimes I can play a piece of music that touches the heart. A reminder of another time, another place, that is only felt for a brief moment and then it vanishes like the morning dew. When I paint a composition, I feel the same expression of a musical phrase. I don't really know how it's going to turn out, but then I am able to visualize what I want to express with a simple stroke that washes into another and that's how I created "Eva". I hope you can feel the music.

Hydrangea High was like painting a symphony for an orchestra.  The colors and tones of the flowers highlighted the different shades of lively purples, pinks and blues. I especially love the hydrangeas that surround the front and sides of my home. This piece was painted as a "plain-air".  I wanted to catch the harmonies and colors as they danced from flower to flower.

I love living in Lexington, SC in the summertime. It is very hot, but that is a way of life in South Carolina. I know that summer is here when the local peach stands open their windows. All you see is basket after basket of peaches. I think peaches are the best and sweetest of all fruits.
